Below are some Frequently Asked Questions from our clients. If you have any questions please contact us, info@PeakPerformanceZone.com or call us toll free 800.726.1398
Q: What is the best protein?
A: To answer this question you need to determine when the protein will be used. If you were using it after a workout the best choice would be a good quality whey protein. Whey protein digests very quickly and is high in Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA). If you are using the protein between meals or in the evening before you go to sleep it's best to use protein that blends different protein sources into one product. The reason for this is because proteins have different absorption rates, which can create a time release effect that will also have a much better anti-catabolic effect than whey protein would.
Q: How much protein per day do I need?
A: The current RDA recommendation for protein intake is as follows. 0.55 to 0.65 grams of protein per pound of body for endurance trainers and 0.65 to 0.80 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight for weight trainers. Most athletic and bodybuilding trainers feel these numbers are not high enough and recommend a minimum of 1 gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight. You should spread this out over 5 to 6 meals eaten every 3-4 hours.
Q: I have high blood pressure can I take weight loss products like Xenadrine RFA or Hydroxycut?
A: No. Products containing ephedra are not recommended for individuals who have high blood pressure or heart conditions. The best products for people looking to avoid ephedra are Xenadrine EFX (ephedra free), Biotest T-2 Pro, and Syntrax MM4.
Q: I've used ephedra-containing thermogenics but didn't like the wired feeling. Will this happen with Xenadrine EFX?
A: Unless you are super sensitive to caffeine (a single dose contains slightly more caffeine that a cup of coffee), definitely not. Xenadrine EFX does not contain ephedra and will not elevate heart rate or increase blood pressure.
Q: Should I take creatine before or after a workout?
A: Creatine is best taken after a workout with a high quality whey protein and some high glycemic carbohydrates preferably in a liquid form.
Q: I'm a 17-year-old male, I have been training for 4 months and I would like to know which prohormone you would recommend for putting on mass as quick as possible.
A: None. Prohormones are not recommended for males under 21 years of age, or females of any age. The most important products for you to consider at this stage of your training are protein, creatine, and a good multi-vitamin.
Q: I get very sore a day or two after a heavy training session is there anything I can do to eliminate this?
A: While some soreness is a necessary evil of high intensity training there are a few things you can do. Try taking 500 mg of vitamin C about 30 minutes before your workout, and add a high potency anti-oxidant formula to your supplement program.
Q: When I do squats I get a lot of pain in my knees, should I wear knee wraps?
A: Knee wraps are for support, but really should not be used to relive pain. I would suggest that you visit a doctor that specializes in sports injuries. You may also want to try joint care products that contain Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM.
